PBM2022

Welcome to the website of the Particle Based Materials Symposium 2022 – Enhancing Sustainability, which will be held at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Erlangen from October 6 to October 7, 2022.

Scope

The goal of the Particle Based Materials Symposium is to bring together scientists and engineers from different communities that all share the goal of creating functionality in materials using particles. The synthesis, processing and materials integration of particles into thin films, bulk matrices, fibers or other geometries are covered by this symposium.

Focus

Particles and particle-based materials (PBM) are everywhere and will play a crucial role to enhance sustainability of processes and products. The PBM Symposium 2022 thus particularly welcomes contributions dealing with PBM in fields such as energy (generation, storage, transformation), catalysis, recycling, purification and recovery, extension of materials lifetime or damage indication. Besides this, fundamental contributions to better understand the formation or the properties of complex particle systems are very welcome as well.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Silvia Vignolini

Topic: Controlling cellulose nanocrystal self-assembly: Controlling optical appearance using bio-derived colloids

University of Cambridge

Prof. Dr. Kristina Tschulik

Topic: Nano-Electrocatalysis - how single particle investigations can shed new light on old problems

Ruhr-University Bochum

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Parak

Topic: Fate of nanoparticles after exposure to cells

Universität Hamburg

Contributions

Contributions (oral and poster) from researchers at all levels are highly appreciated. Slots for oral contributions will be selected by the scientific committee on the basis of the originality of the research, the level of results indicated in the abstract, and the relevance for the field of particle-based materials.

The PBM2022 is planned as an in-person conference. If the pandemic situation changes, we will accordingly adapt to a hybrid/digital format. Note that in special cases online contribution is possible.
